Does anyone really enjoy shaving? We doubt it. We agree that everyone enjoys the effects of shaving i.e. smooth and neat skin, but we maintain that one actually enjoys the act of shaving. It isn’t just shaving either. It is also waxing. Whichever way you look at it, hair removal, on the whole, is a pain.
The only sure-shot way to be rid of the annoyance of shaving and waxing is to avoid it altogether. But then, you’ll be compromising on your appearance so it isn’t really an option.
You can, of course, minimize the tediousness with a carefully chosen electric shaver. Since wet dry shavers are the crème de la crème of electric shavers, we aren’t all that surprised that you’re considering buying one. It’s a great strategy and we’re here to help you bring it to fruition.
In this guide of best wet dry shavers, you’ll not only find reviews of the best models available in the market but more information on wet dry shavers on the whole. We’ve created a very thorough guide as you can see from the following easy-to-click navigation panel.

What Is A Wet Dry Shaver?
When you use a shaving cream or gel to shave, the process is called wet shaving. If the shaving cream or gel is not used, the process is called dry shaving. A wet dry shaver is designed to be used with and without shaving creams and gels.
You may confuse wet dry shavers with waterproof shavers if you’ve only recently learned about them. The fact that people use “wet dry shaver” and “waterproof shaver” as interchangeable terms is the single most common misconception about these devices.
The two terms can be seen as parallel descriptions of the device instead of synonyms. The “wet dry” term is used for shavers that can be used with or without shaving creams and gels. The “waterproof” term is used for shavers that can be used in the shower. Therefore, the term “wet dry” refers to the function of the device while the term “waterproof” is connected to its protective housing.
Most wet dry shavers are also waterproof but there are also wet dry shavers that don’t have this feature. Wet dry shavers that aren’t waterproof, however, can still be used with shaving gels and creams.
Which Is Better – Dry or Wet Shaving?
The answer to this question varies based on what your expectations are from shaving i.e. where you stand in the debate between experience and results.
For instance, if you like the cleanest and closest of shaves, then you will find wet shaving better. The act of soaking the skin allows the hair to become more exposed in wet shaving. This, in turn, results in the cut to be closer to the skin too. At the same time, though, the blades’ proximity to the skin increases the chances of nicks, cuts, razor burns, and even ingrown hair.
In contrast, there is virtually no risk of nicks and cuts in dry shaving because the blades don’t get close to the skin. This is particularly beneficial for people with sensitive skin. However, it also means that you don’t get a close shave. Dry shaving, as a result, almost always leaves behind a stubble.
Nothing is stopping you from practicing both these forms of shaving. You could look for clean shaves through wet shaving on important occasions and limit yourself to dry shaves on normal days. Wet dry shavers are great because they make this kind of a system possible.
How to Choose a Wet Dry Shaver?
Because wet dry shavers are so popular, there are quite a few options available in the market. In fact, there are so many options to pick from that choosing between them becomes an elaborate exercise instead of a quick affair.
The difficulties especially show up if you’ve never used a wet dry shaver before. There’s just no benchmark for first-time buyers to rely on. The trick is to know which aspects to focus on and how. We’ve created a simple list that is perfect for first-timers considering a wet dry shaver purchase.
Attachments or Cutting Modes
Some wet dry shavers are only designed to be used on the face, while others can be used all over the body. Typically, the versatile shavers come either with additional attachments or multiple cutting modes on the same shaving head.
One of the most important things you’ll have to consider while choosing a wet dry shaver is its cutting modes or attachments.
If you plan to use the device all over your body, make sure you get a device with the most attachments. On the other hand, if you don’t plan to cut hair on your body, you can save a lot of money by selecting a simpler device.
Speed or Cycles Per Minute (CPM)
The faster the blades move on a shaver, the more efficient their cutting will be. Wet dry shavers with higher CPMs will be much faster and will not require multiple passes over the same spot.
However, every manufacturer will not list their device’s CPM. If you can’t find CPM information on a particular device, it is best to analyze reviews for complaints about hairs being missed, hairs being pulled, and even multiple passes being required.
Charging and Running Times
Most wet dry shavers are waterproof to some extent. Whether they’re only waterproof enough for wet shaving or can be used in the shower, you’ll find them to be cordless too.
After all, exposure to water doesn’t well with wired devices. This makes battery capacities very important. You should look at three things from the perspective of batteries.
- How long the device runs when its battery is fully charged
- How long the battery takes to achieve a full charge, and
- Whether there is a quick-charge option.
The battery capacity will make your life convenient, the speed of charging will prevent downtime, and the quick-charge feature will help you avoid emergencies.
Weight and Bulk
It is also a good idea to consider the weight and bulk of the device.
Women particularly need to pay attention to the weight of the device as their shaving tasks usually last longer than men. For instance, if you have to shave your legs and arms, then you can expect to spend more time holding and maneuvering the wet dry shaver. If the device is too heavy, then you’ll tire quicker.
For the same reason, women should also consider the bulk of the device. If the handle is too thick, then it will affect their grip. They’ll not only tire quicker but also have reduced maneuverability with a bulkier device.
Further, the bulkiness of the shaving head is also worth noting. If the shaving head is too big then it will be tough to use the device to get at hard-to-reach areas such as underarms, elbows, and bikini areas. This is something that even men should consider or they’ll find it difficult to maneuver their device under their jaws.
Replacement Parts Cost and Availability
The shaving head of all wet dry shavers needs to be changed at regular intervals. Generally, how often you need to change the shaving head depends on how often you use the device and how difficult your hairs are, along with the quality of the device.
This could range from anything between three months to two years. However, a general thumb rule is that the shaving head on expensive devices will stay sharp much longer than cheaper ones.
Fortunately, most companies sell shaving heads for their wet dry shavers separately. Even so, you should consider the availability and cost of replacement parts before making the final purchase.

Top 2 Budget Wet/Dry Shavers: Detailed Reviews
1. Philips Norelco OneBlade Face + Body, Hybrid Electric Trimmer and Shaver, QP2630/70
Editor’s Rating: 4.25/5.0
If you’re not new to shaving, then you must have some experience with the traditional razor. However, did you never wonder why no one ever made electric razors in the same shape? If you did then you would love the OneBlade from Philips Norelco.
Its design is unique in the industry but fairly intuitive for us users. The company has taken the basic razor and decided to add all the required electric components to it. As a result, you have a razor-like, albeit slightly bigger, electric wet dry shaver.
Apart from being cool, its unique design offers some benefits too. For instance, it allows the device to be unbelievably lightweight. Further, it ensures that the blades don’t pull the hair at all. Even with the design, however, this device suffers from the drawback that affects all electric shavers i.e. the shave it delivers is not close enough. We should mention that the shave is closer if you use this shaver for wet shaving.
This shaver is fairly travel-friendly as its low weight is complemented by the fact that it is a dual voltage device. This means that you can charge its lithium-ion battery anywhere in the world. Once fully charged, you’ll be able to use the shaver for up to 60 minutes continuously. It will take four hours to achieve full charge and cannot be used while being charged.
While this shaver’s battery capacity is impressive, its power isn’t. The cutter on this shaver only moves as fast as 200 times every minute, which nothing compared to the more advanced devices in the market. The shaver is quite versatile, though. It comes with a blade each for the face and body, four stubble combs, one skin guard, and a body comb. There’s even a protective cap that makes this device safer in the luggage.
It is possible to get a smaller set with only three attachments. This variant can only be used for facial hair. A much more advanced variant is also available with many more capabilities. The battery capacity of the devices also varies from one variant to another.
Regardless of which variant you choose, you won’t have to spend a lot because this is an extremely affordable device. In fact, it is one of the cheapest available right now. Considering its low price, we’re not too concerned with the fact that its shaving head needs to be changed every four months. The replacement heads, however, are a little on the expensive side.
The biggest flaw of the OneBlade is its build quality. Most people who have used this device say that the clip attachment mechanism is too weak and brittle. It is made up of cheap-looking plastic and snaps under pressure.
Who’s it for: If you’re used to the traditional razor and want your wet dry shaver to feel the same, get the OneBlade with its unique design.

2. Braun Electric Razor for Men, Series 3 3040s Electric Foil Shaver with Precision Trimmer (Best Budget)
Editor’s Rating: 4.5/5.0
We cannot understand why this wet dry shaver is so cheap. The only rationale we can come up with is this is an old model and more advanced models have become available. Even so, this device is awesome enough to compete with many of those models.
It is a fully waterproof wet dry shaver, which means that you can use it in the shower. Even more impressive than this is that this device combines SensoFoil technology with pressure-sensitive blades. The SensoFoil technology puts a metal mesh between the blades and the skin to prevent nicks and cuts.
The pressure-sensitive blades further protect against nicks and cuts by retracting away from the skin when pressure is increased. While this retraction is great at protecting the skin, it becomes an annoyance when cleaning the device. Any kind of pressure from the provided cleaning comb or even running water makes the blades retract.
Apart from these, this device also incorporates MicroComb technology designed to ensure that multiple passes are not required to get all the hairs. As the device gets older, though, the number of required passes may increase owing to the blunting of the shaving head. By 12 months, you’ll have to replace the head altogether.
The device has a decent run time in terms of battery capacity. It can handle 45 minutes of non-stop usage. It is quick to charge up as well, taking only 60 minutes but you cannot use the device while it is charging. However, you can take it off for a single shave because of its five-minute quick-charge feature.
The shaver looks good too with its blue-black color scheme. It is fairly easy to travel with as well owing to its average weight and provided cover. Unfortunately, like all shavers, this one doesn’t provide a close shave. The device is not as long-lasting as you would expect, either. It is known to break down in less than 24 months.
Who’s it for: If you want a wet dry shaver loaded with multiple features for a low price, get the Braun 3040s.

Top 2 Value Wet Dry Shavers: Detailed Reviews
3. Panasonic Hybrid Wet Dry Shaver, Trimmer & Detailer – ES-LL41-K (Best Value)
Editor’s Rating: 4.75/5.0
Wet dry shavers developed specifically for women tend to be very gentle. This means that they’re not as powerful or as aggressive as men’s wet dry shavers. It is for this reason that many women choose to get men’s wet dry shavers instead of those that were explicitly designed for them.
The Panasonic ES-LL41-K qualifies for such requirements wonderfully well. However, the fact that it is a good option for women doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good choice for men. On the contrary, it is as great an option for men as it is for women.
In fact, we’ll go as far as to say that it is one of the best wet dry shavers available in the market right now. It relies on excellent modern technologies, comes with multiple attachments, possesses great battery capacity, and is incredibly easy to use.
For instance, this wet dry shaver has a blade system comprising “ultra-thin, nano-polished” blades made with the highly reliable Japanese steel. These blades are covered with an ultra-thin hypoallergenic ARC foil that not only copes with thick hair well but also captures and cuts longer hair strands.
In addition to this, this shaver has a Smart Shave Sensor that adjusts power output based on the hairs being cut so that the final result is uniform. The blades’ cutting action is powerful too since this device’s internal linear motor runs at 13,000 CPMs. The drawback of all that power is, of course, noise.
Despite all these technologies, this shaver has the same flaw that all electric razors suffer from i.e. it doesn’t deliver a close shave. While you can always use the pop-up trimmer or detailer to cut close to the skin, it isn’t something we’ll recommend for two reasons – you’ll be risking nicks and will have to spend a lot of time.
This is also a cordless device that boasts of a very impressive battery. The battery allows for 50 minutes’ worth of continuous use when fully charged and only takes 60 minutes to achieve that full charge. There’s even an LED indicator that shows its charging progress.
If you ever forget to charge the device and are in a hurry, you can use its quick-charge feature. The feature will allow you to get a quick shave in with only five minutes of charging. This wet dry shaver is very user and travel-friendly.
It can be used in the shower and sports a soft-touch rubber grip. The grip keeps the shaver from slipping away. It even comes with two clip-on comb attachments with seven different settings. This shaver doesn’t even weigh a lot making it easy to use for extended periods and easy to pack in the luggage. It can be charged on any voltage system which means that you can take it anywhere in the world.
Who’s it for: Get this wet dry shaver if you want to get the most out of your money and can handle a bit of noise while shaving.

4. Philips Norelco AT830/41 Shaver 4500
Editor’s Rating: 4.5/5.0
Rotary shavers have rotating blades instead of blades that move from side to side as seen in foil shavers. This is the first rotary shaver that has made into our list of the best wet dry shavers. It also happens to be one of the best rotary shavers in the market right now.
The Philips Norelco 4500 features the patented Super Lift and Cut Dual-Blade action. This technology’s primary function is to lift the hairs before cutting them so that the cut is closer to the surface of the skin.
It is because of this reason that this shaver can deliver closer shaves than most of its competitors. At the same time, it is important to remember that the closeness of the shave cannot be compared to the results of traditional razors. This patented technology has a downside also, though. The manner in which it pulls the hair outwards can sometimes become very uncomfortable.
This problem especially manifests when the cutting blades become blunt over time. The cutting blades are a part of the company’s unique Dual Precision shaving system. They’re fairly reliable and stay sharp for long periods. In fact, the shaving head on this device only needs to be replaced every 12 months. The only problem is that replacement heads are expensively priced.
The shaving head, however, is very flexible and can follow the contours of the body or face very well. There is also a pop-up trimmer for detailing work. Further, the shaver incorporates an AquaTec seal to make it waterproof and give it the wet shaving functionality.
This means that you can rinse off the device to clean the shaving head. However, every so often you’ll have to take the shaving head apart for cleaning and lubrication if you want it to stay with you for a long time. Luckily, the brush needed for this task is provided in the box.
In terms of battery power, this device is comparable to most other similar devices in the market. It does take a very long time to reach that full charge though. While it will run for 50 minutes non-stop on a full charge, the battery indicator will take eight hours to go from low to full. You won’t even be able to use it while it is charging. However, three minutes of charging should give it enough juice for one cordless shave.
Even though it isn’t lightest shaver in the market, it is still travel-friendly because of its dual voltage support. It will be easy for you to travel all over the world with this shaver owing to the very effective and helpful protective cap in the box.
This shaver is more than worth its price. In fact, it is affordable without even considering all the features we’ve mentioned till now. It seems even more reasonable because the company backs the shaver with a 45-day money-back guarantee and a two-year warranty.
Who’s it for: If you’re looking for a rotary wet dry shaver, you can’t go wrong with the Philips Norelco 4500.

Top 2 Premium Wet Dry Shavers: Detailed Reviews
5. Braun Electric Razor for Men, Series 7 7865cc Electric Shaver With Precision Trimmer (Top Pick)
Editor’s Rating: 4.75/5.0
Even though Braun has come out with multiple newer advanced models, the Series 7 7865cc still dominates the premium market segment. It is one of those products that are considered to be legendary in the industry. It deserves its popularity too if you consider how reliable, dependable, and well-balanced a wet dry shaver it is.
Its reliability comes from the fact that it rarely ever nicks or cuts the skin while cutting hair. This is partly because of its Responsive Intelligence and partly due to its 8D Contour Adaptation.
The device boasts of five different shaving modes and it chooses the most suitable one for the user based on the Responsive Intelligence technology. The 8D Contour Adaptation helps prevent cuts and nicks by helping the shaving head adapt to the contours of the face and body.
This wet dry shaver is incomparablydependable since it is a very long-lasting device. In fact, the company says that they’ve designed this shaver to last for seven years. The amazing bit is that the device actually lasts that long!
The technologies used in this wet dry shaver makes it very well-balanced in a wide variety of ways. Further, behind all that technology, it sports an adaptive motor that is capable of generating 10,000 micro-vibrations for the three cutting elements to cut the hair.
Even though the blades employed in this device are very precise, they do sometimes miss hairs. As a result, you may have to run the shaver over the same area more than once. The final shave, as is the case with all electric shavers, will never be comparable to a traditional razor though. Like most advanced shavers, this one also boasts of a pop-up trimmer.
This wet dry shaver is completely waterproof and has a very impressive battery capacity. It can run for 50 minutes nonstop if fully charged. It is quick to charge up too, requiring only an hour to reach full capacity. All this is because of its advanced battery. Unfortunately, this means that the battery is very heavy. Its weight means that this device is very heavy as well.
Charging and cleaning this wet dry shaver is a breeze because of the provided Clean & Charge station. The station has a “4-action alcohol-based” cleaning system that does a good job of removing all the hair that may get stuck in the blades. The only problem is that it breaks down within a few months.
Because this device is loaded with so many state-of-the-art features, it isn’t surprising that it is expensive. We, however, still feel that its cost is more than justified, considering how long it will stay with you.
Who’s it for: If you can pay extra for a high-performance wet dry shaver that will stay with you for a long time, go ahead and get this device without hesitating.

6. Braun Series 9-9095cc Wet and Dry Foil Shaver for Men
Editor’s Rating: 4.25/5.0
Braun has a long history of designing some of the greatest wet dry shavers. Their latest offering is the Braun Series 9 9095cc. If it wasn’t for Braun’s Series 7 shaver, this device would’ve gotten more acclaim. As it is, this is their most advanced offering in this market segment.
It boasts of more technologies than what the Series 7 had. For instance, it has a quadruple action cutting system with each action being a technology in its own right. The four technologies are the Intelligent Sonic Technology, the Direct and Cut Trimmer, the HyperLift and Cut Trimmer, and the dual OptiFoil.
The sonic technology is responsible for the cutting action and produces unbelievable 40,000 cycles per minute. The Direct and Cut Trimmer is responsible for nullifying the problems caused by hair growing in varying directions.
The HyperLift and Cut trimmer’s job is to ensure uniform cuts, while the OptiFoil’s task is to cut hair close to the skin. It is only the OptiFoil, where the device suffers because it cannot deliver shaves as close as what you would get from a traditional razor.
The fact that so many technologies have been squeezed into the device’s head has a downside i.e. it makes the head too big to be comfortable. The technologies, however, do make this device suitable for people with sensitive skin.
The power for the wet dry shaver comes lithium-ion batteries with very long run time. The charging period is also similar to the running time and is supplemented by a five-minute quick-charge feature. The quick-charge feature is important because you can’t use this device while it is charging.
The charging happens through a station that is also tasked with cleaning the device simultaneously. The station relies on the company’s five-action cleaning system, which is an upgrade on their four-action system. The additional fifth action is supposed to dry the shaver but doesn’t do that great a job at it.
However, the main problem with the station is that it breaks down within a few months. The display on this device gives status updates on both the cleaning and charging processes. It is also a dual voltage shaver, which means that you can take it anywhere in the world. If you’re flying, take its weight into account. It is quite heavy.
The biggest problem with this device is that it is unbelievably expensive. Even the company’s two-year warranty cannot justify the price, especially if you consider how expensive the replacement shaving head is.
The replacement shaving head is almost as expensive as the entire device. Of course, they’re also unavailable most of the time. So, if the device breaks down on you or the blades become dull, you’ll have difficulty finding and paying for the replacement.
Who’s it for: If you’re always looking for the most advanced products to play with, then go for the Series 9 from Braun.

7. Remington WDF5030A Smooth & Silky Electric Shaver for Women
Editor’s Rating: 4.0/5.0
While there is nothing to stop women from using men’s wet dry shavers, wet dry shavers designed specifically for women tend to be better suited for bodywork. More importantly, women’s wet dry shavers tend to be gentler, milder, and softer on their skin.
Take the Remington WDF5030A, for example. It has a built-in almond oil strip that moisturizes the skin while shaving off the hair. This keeps the skin soft and prevents it from becoming irritated even in sensitive regions such as the bikini area.
In addition to the almond strip, this wet dry shaver also boasts of the Smooth Glide technology. This technology is highlighted by foils that streamline the passage of hair and shaving gel through them. This makes the hair more accessible to the four-blade cutting system behind the foil. The direct result of this is a shave that is not only more efficient but smoother as well.
The foils also incorporate the Lift Logic technology which ensures even and uniform cutting. The entire system is very effective at not pulling or tugging the hair. At the same time, by its very nature, the system is unable to produce shaves as close as what razors can achieve.
The shaving head on this device is also quite large. This is a plus and a minus. On the plus side, it reduces the time you take to shave larger regions such as legs. On the minus side, it can make it difficult to work tight regions such as underarms and pelvic areas. As in the case of all wet dry shavers, the shaving head will need to be changed when it comes blunt. The only problem is that the replacement head isn’t easily available.
The device is fully cordless and can operate for 30 minutes without stopping. On the flipside, it is very slow to reach full charge, taking up to 24 hours. The device may not be the heaviest but it is also not very travel-friendly. For instance, you cannot take it abroad because it only works on the North American power system.
However, if you travel within the country a lot, then you can always carry it with you in the provided beauty bag. Other items you’ll get with this device are a head guard, a bikini comb, and a charging stand. You can get this device in two color schemes. The first is solid purple with white sides and the second is solid white with purple sides.
Who’s it for: If shaving makes your skin very dry, you should get this Remington wet dry shaver for women with its unique almond strip.

8. Remington WSF4810US Smooth & Silky On the Go Shaver (Best Women’s Shaver)
Editor’s Rating: 4.25/5.0
Most wet dry shavers tend to be on the bigger, heavier side. For women who like to carry their beauty equipment in their bags, this can prove to be a big problem. Remington has considered this problem already and come up with a great solution in the form of the WSD4810US On the Go Shaver.
This is easily the most compact and lightweight wet dry shaver available in the market. It weighs a mere five ounces is half the size of most other women’s wet dry shaver. It is a three-blade shaver that works fast and delivers great results, particularly if you consider how small it is. Even so, it cannot deliver the kind of close shave that you may be used to from a traditional shaver.
On the other hand, this device is quite versatile as well. You can use it for a dry shave on the run or for a wet shave in the comfort of your own bath. It is also very gentle on the skin owing to its hypoallergenic foil. Its gentleness helps counter the risk of nicks, cuts, razor burns, and even ingrown hair. Its gentleness also means that you can use it on sensitive regions like the bikini area or the underarm without any hesitation.
This device’s low weight and compact profile make it very travel-friendly. In fact, you can take it to any corner of the world because it doesn’t need to be charged. It only needs two AAA batteries to run, which are the same anywhere you go.
The downside of this power source, however, is that this device lacks sufficient power. This can cause it to either miss hair or pull them. This happens especially when you’re in a hurry so the simple solution is to be deliberate in how you use the device.
This wet dry shaver is amazingly priced too. In fact, it is one of the cheapest ever. The only problem is that its running costs are high. It consumes AAA batteries at a voracious rate. You better keep a stash at home and in your bags, if you plan to depend on this shaver.
Who’s it for: If you travel a lot and are looking for an amazingly compact wet dry shaver, get this one from Remington.
